Relative numbers of Usenet posts praising or complaining about a specific carrier in a specific region is NOT the equivalent of a double-blind randomized controlled study. However anecdotal evidence does have its place, especially when it is overwhelming. When you are deciding on a carrier it is a great help to learn about areas with poor coverage, both locally and in other areas. You probably can't, within the 14-30 day trial period, check out all the different spots where you must have coverage. Occasionally you'll find a poster who has an agenda in promoting a specific carrier and he or she will make unsubstantiated statements about how great the coverage is in order to persuade you to subscribe to that carrier.

If asking a question on Usenet you should be extremely specific in what you ask, including be very specific in the subject line. If making a statement, or responding to a post you disagree with, try to have citations to support your position, rather than playing the toddler game of "Does Too," "Does Not," which will make you look like an idiot in the eyes of other readers and posters.

The proper way to respond to an earlier post is to put your response at the top, with the earlier messages snipped just enough to maintain clarity and to be able to pick up the salient points of the thread. It is tiresome to scroll through all the old posts to get to the new material, so try to avoid bottom posting unless the thread already uses bottom posting.
